Karl Lagerfeld is a genius. He (and Coco Chanel, God rest her creative soul), are the only people who could convince me to wear tweed head to toe. I’m a fan of a brand who holds its own. One of the ways a heritage couture house can keep relevant is by creating its own trends. It’s not enough to just follow them anymore. This may sound pretty obvious, but we all know a luxury brand/item we loved which is sadly a part of the history books! (Or largely available in TK MAXX.) It’s no secret that fashion changes its own rules. However, this one is a shocker! Cue Chanel Couture Spring/Summer 2014…
Notice anything?? Hint: footwear.
Yep. They were all in trainers. For the record, I hate trainers. If you had told me that Chanel would do its Haute Couture collection with rubber soles two weeks ago? I’d have raised my eyebrows. This doesn’t mean I’m going to dump my heels and reach for a pair of Oasics. But it does mean I admire the boldness of the ones behind the catwalk. I’m not going to lie, It really doesn’t look half bad…
